In recognition of financial success and contribution to the country’s economy, three individuals and two institutions were honoured with the prestigious “Bangladesh Business Awards”.

This year, the Best Financial Institution, Enterprise of the Year, Outstanding Woman in Business, Business Person of the Year, and Lifetime achievement were recognised and awarded.

Kutubuddin Ahmed, chairman of Envoy Group, was crowned as the business person of the year.

Luna Shamsuddoha, chairperson of leading software house Dohatec New Media, was recognised as the outstanding woman in business.

The lifetime achievement award went to Harunur Rashid Khan Monno, one of the top entrepreneurs and industrialists of Bangladesh.

The City Bank won the accolade in the Best Financial Institution category. Meghna Group of Industries, a household name in Bangladesh, was recognised as the Enterprise of the Year.

Anisul Islam Mahmud, water resources minister, handed over the awards at a ceremony at the Radisson Hotel in Dhaka, in attendance of business leaders, corporate chiefs, and leading investors.

‎DHL Express, the world's leading logistics firm, and The Daily Star, the leading English-language newspaper in Bangladesh, hosted the awards night.

Mahbubur Rahman, president of International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh, Latifur Rahman, chairman of Transcom Group, M Matiul Islam, the first finance secretary, M Anis Ud Dowla, chairman of ACI Ltd, Geeteara Safiya Choudhury, former adviser to a caretaker government, and Annisul Huq, mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation, were those among present.
