Saviours turn 'rapists'
A mother and her daughter were allegedly gang-raped in Sristygor area under Shibpur upazila in Narsingdi on Friday evening.
The 48-year-old mother filed a case against six people with Shibpur Police Station yesterday morning.
Accused Delwar Hossain, 30, Md Shafique, 25, Md Mokhles, 33, Md Badal, 42, Babu Miah, 26, and Md Alamgir, 40, are all residents of Sristygor.
Delwar and Shafique have been arrested.
The mother in the case said they had started for Habiganj on a bus around 3:00pm on Friday from Sayedabad in the capital. The bus broke down near Sristygor around 6:30pm.
The accused approached the victims and offered them a ride on another bus. At one stage, they started dragging her 30-year-old daughter away from the spot. The mother tried to grab her and bring her back but could not.
The accused took them to a nearby jute mill, raped them and fled, the case statement said.
After the incident, the victims went to the police station. The law enforcers made overnight drives and arrested two suspects.
Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Shibpur Model Police Station, said medical tests of the victims had been conducted and a report would be available on Monday.
