Rohingya man detained for 'raping' a baby
Police yesterday arrested a Rohingya man for allegedly raping a one and a half year old girl in Cox's Bazar.
The accused, Mohammad Abdullah, 33, who lives in the district's Badshahgona area, is a day labourer.
On Monday, Abdullah allegedly lured the baby to his room, raped her and fled the place, locals said.
Severely bleeding, the child was rescued Monday night and rushed to the One Stop Crisis Centre of Cox's Bazar General Hospital by the victim's parents and locals.
Locals detained the alleged rapist early yesterday and handed him over to the police.
Farid Uddin Khandakar, officer-in-charge of Cox's Bazar Model Police Station, said the accused, during primary interrogation, admitted the incident of raping.
Police filed a case against Abdullah regarding the incident.
