DB arrests 3 muggers who pose as cops
Detectives arrested three people at the capital on Wednesday for posing as police and stealing money.
They had allegedly snatched Tk 40 lakh from two garment factory officials in Uttara a month ago.
Jewell Rana, 26, was arrested at Badda along with Tk four lakh while Masud Ranaa, 32, and Antu Hawlader, 30, were arrested with Tk two lakh each at Jatrabari on Wednesday, Abdul Baten, joint commissioner (detectives) of DMP, said.
The arrestees along with others snatched the money from the officials after they emerged from a bank withdrawing the money on December 6, he said
The DB official said they are trying to recover the rest of the money and arrest the other criminals.
Rasel Howlader, an official of the factory, told The Daily Star, “Four men carrying DB kits, including walkie-talkies, handcuffs, and firearms intercepted their company car around 12:45pm on that day.”
The muggers forcibly entered the car, took the money and fled the scene in another car, he added.
