4 killed in Sylhet road accident

Four people were killed and 10 others injured in a collision between a bus and a truck on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shatmail area in Dakshin Surma upazila of Sylhet yesterday morning at around 7:00am.

The deceased were identified as Abu Bakkar, 50, Akbar Ali, 50 and Abduj Jafur, 45 of Noagaon village of Sunamganj Sadar. All three men died on the spot. Abdul Khaleq, a union parishad member of Kathoir in the district was badly injured and died at the hospital.

The bus was carrying devotees returning from Biswa Ijtema that ended in Tongi, Dhaka on Sunday.

Khairul Fazal, officer-in-charge of Dakshin Surma Police Station said that the Sylhet bound bus carrying at around 30 passengers rammed into Dhaka bound truck in the thick morning fog.

He said, on receiving the news police rushed to the spot and helped send the injured to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
