Apurba's incredibly busy season
Apurba found a new wave of success last year, and this year he is determined to deliver even better. The model/actor has been solely working on TV projects since the inception of his career, and he is still very passionate towards his craft. The Daily Star reached out to the star to find out more about his Eid ventures, as well as which team he supports in the World Cup.
How many tele-fictions are you working on for Eid?
Apurba: I will appear in eight to ten tele-fictions. I always strive to do something special and unique during this time of the year. You will see me as Devdas in Jolshagor, helmed by Zakaria Shoukhin. I will play a very different character in Ashfaque Nipun's Tomar Kachey Jabo. I will also be starring in a tele-film by Shihab Shahin.
Do you watch yourself on television during Eid?
Apurba: I often watch myself, as well as my fellow actors on TV during the Eid holidays. It has become a tradition in my family to get together with everyone and watch the new tele-fictions.
What are your plans for Eid?
Apurba: I plan to celebrate in Dhaka, like every year. I always spend the time with family; we start at dawn for the Eid prayers, and then return home to a spectacular feast. My father is the eldest sibling in his family, so my paternal uncles and aunts visit our home every year.
Which team do you root for during the World Cup?
Apurba: I've been an avid Brazil supporter since I was young. I love their style of playing, and it was watching and hearing about Pele's prowess that drew me to the team.
Do you have plans to follow the games?
Apurba: While I may not be able to watch every single match during the World Cup, I don't intend to miss the important ones. At home, I look forward to watching the matches with my family, especially my son, Ayyash. During shooting, I will have to find opportunities in between takes.
Could you tell us a little about your new venture?
Apurba: I have started a clothing line called Armoiree, earlier last month. I've started out with t-shirts for now. A very close friend of mine is my partner in this venture.
