Shormymala on a roll
Shormymala is a popular theatre artiste. She has been working with theatre troupe Palakar since 2006, and has acted in 10 stage plays including some critically acclaimed plays – "Nora's Daughter", "Banglar Mati Banglar Jol", "Mrittika Kumari" to name just a few. But her big break came when she shared screen space with big stars in Goutam Ghose's "Moner Manush".
Later, she played the lead role in Gazi Rakayat's National Award-winning film "Mrittika Maya", which also brought her a national award – for Best Actress in a Leading Role (jointly with Moushumi for "Purno Doirgho Prem Kahini").
About her achievement, an elated Shormymala said, "I heard the news from Gazi Rakayat sir. I was so excited that I didn't initially believe that I was selected for it. I am indebted to the entire 'Mrittika Maya' team."
Not only that, she has also acted in a number of television plays. She debuted in television with Aminur Rahman Mukul's "Bokul Phool" and later ventured into drama serials.
At present, she is working in Afsana Mimi's "Saat-ti Tara'r Timir", which airs on ATN Bangla, and Golam Sohrab Dodul's "Hollabaji" -- that airs on Banglavision.
