U2 pays tribute to Paris attack victims
Returning to Paris for a set of concerts at AccorHotels Arena on December 6-7, U2 remembered those that died in the November 13 terrorist attacks that took place in the city. The victims' names were displayed in blue, white and red on a large screen on the stage.”We stand together with the families who lost their loved ones in Paris,” Bono said. “We stand together with families in San Bernardino. We stand together with families in Beirut and Istanbul. We stand together before those with false ideologies of the god they serve.”
The band had postponed the shows that were originally scheduled for November 14 and 15 following the tragedy.
U2's December 6 performance, which streamed via Meerkat, also featured Patti Smith as a special guest. Smith joined them onstage for “Gloria” / “Bad” and “People Have the Power”, reports U2gigs.com.
