Artcell returns with a big bang after 10 years
Almost twenty years ago, a group of friends made waves in the Dhaka music scene when they debuted some of their original compositions. The Metallica-cover band transformed overnight and hence was the birth of Artcell, one of Bangladesh's most iconic and well known progressive metal bands. Their unique sound and lyrics made them stand out enough that music lovers were left scratching their heads, wondering which genre to confine Artcell to. Artcell transcended each category and within a short time, it rose to a league of its own.
While Artcell's stars shone bright, they never saturated the market with the amount of their songs. Their first album was followed by another after four years of waiting. And now, ten years since then, Artcell is finally ready to launch their third album.
Why the hiatus, people wonder. Truth be told, it's because that's what Artcell is all about. They are artists who draw with tunes and colour with words and every piece is a story they want to tell. The latest album promises to chronicle their last decade of seeming absence and tell the tales they have amassed. Artcells third album works almost like a spiritual awakening; it's new, it's different yet it fosters notions of being eternal. Artcell have always been around. They never left. They merely redesigned, restructured and are now ready to conquer. Artcell is back. And they have a lot to get off their chest.
