9 Tabligh Jamaat members quarantined in Patuakhali mosque

Nine members of Tabligh Jamaat were put in isolation inside a mosque, in Patuakhali Sadar upazila, last night.

Locals have been asked not to go to the mosque for the next 14 days.

Md Zayed, who is heading a nine-member team of Tabligh Jamaat, said they started a trip from Markaz Jam-e-Mosque of Patuakhali Sadar upazila 48 days back.

They went to Ballabpur Jam-e-Mosque in the same upazila on April 3, he said.

On information, Patuakhali Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Latifa Jannati went there around 8:30pm yesterday and locked down the mosque.

She asked the nine persons -- seven from Patuakhali and one each from Barishal and Bagerhat -- to stay in isolation inside the mosque for the next 14 days.
