80-yr-old Rangpur man returns home after recovery from Covid-19
An 80-year-old man in Rangpur today returned home after recovering from Covid-19 after 14 days of treatment.
Moslem Uddin was discharged from the Rangpur Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospital this afternoon and returned to his home in Auliaganj under Madhupur union of the district's Badarganj upazila, chief of the hospital and also Principal of Rangpur Medical College (RMC) SM Nurunnabi confirmed to The Daily Star.
According to his family, the aging man had been in Dhaka for a long time. He returned to Rangpur on April 1 and went to his son-in-law's house in the city. While staying there, he began showing symptoms of the virus -- fever, runny nose and cough.
Later on April 16, Moslem Uddin was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for treatment where he was diagnosed with Covid-19 on April 20 and was shifted to the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospital.
After 14 days of treatment, Moslem Uddin's condition improved and two consecutive coronavirus test reports came negative, so the hospital authorities decided to discharge him, said SM Nurunnabi.
All the doctors led by the hospital chief gave the man a farewell on Wednesday by presenting him with a flower bouquet and a letter.
The letter congratulated Moslem Uddin on his recovery.
In Rangpur division, so far 13 of 111 people diagnosed with Covid-19 in Gaibandha, Rangpur, Nilphamari and Thakurgaon districts have returned home after recovery, while three persons died.
