Vintage cars: A walk through time
For the last 41 years, Mahmudul Faruq, an automobile enthusiast, has been collecting vintage cars.
Beginning in 1977, he has so far collected over 60 classic cars from different eras, various kinds of motorbikes, and a small airplane.
The most interesting aspect of his jaw-dropping collection is that each and every one of these antique cars has a story of its own.
Some of the cars once belonged to the prominent zaminders of the country, while some belonged to the intellectuals.
For example, Faruq has in his collection a 1956 Chevrolet which was used by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the car of Begum's editor Nurjahan Begum, and the car of Shawgat's editor Mohammad Nasiruddin, among others.
Faruq dreams to set up a museum of vintage cars in Moynar Tek area of Dhaka's Dakshinkhan one day to tell the stories of his cars and ignite his passion among others who also share his zeal.
