Too nostalgic? Snapchat says pay up

Snapchat is introducing paid storage plans for its 'Memories' feature, asking users with large digital archives to begin paying for space that was previously free.
According to Snapchat, more than one trillion Memories have been saved since the feature launched in 2016, a service that allowed Snapchatters to preserve selected images and videos beyond the standard camera roll.
For most users, who store less than 5 GB of content, nothing will change. If over 5 GB, the new subscription options include 100 GB, 250 GB through Snapchat+, and 5 TB with Snapchat Platinum.
Snapchat said it will provide 12 months of temporary storage for content that exceeds the free 5 GB limit, giving users time to upgrade or download their data.
The company acknowledged that moving from a free service to a paid model may be unwelcome, but argued that the change was necessary to sustain and improve Memories in the long term.
