New iPhone SE could be announced tomorrow: report

Apple could unveil a new iPhone SE as early as tomorrow, February 11, according to a report by Apple analyst Mark Gurman of Bloomberg News.
The fourth-generation model, expected to modernise Apple's budget-friendly smartphone lineup, marks the first update to the SE series since 2022 and signals the tech giant's push to attract cost-conscious buyers globally.
The upcoming iPhone SE is rumoured to ditch its predecessor's outdated design, adopting a look similar to the iPhone 14. Key upgrades include a USB-C port—replacing the Lightning connector to comply with EU regulations—and the likely retirement of the Touch ID home button in favour of Face ID biometrics.
Gurman notes that the device will also be compatible with Apple Intelligence, the company's generative AI platform, putting it on par with the iPhone 16 lineup and iPhone 15 Pro.
Notably, the new iPhone SE could also debut Apple's first in-house cellular modem, reducing reliance on Qualcomm. This shift aligns with Apple's broader strategy to control more of its hardware components.
The budget iPhone is expected to target international markets like China and India, where affordability drives smartphone adoption, states a report by tech news platform TechCrunch on the matter.
Alongside the iPhone SE, Apple may introduce the PowerBeats Pro 2, the first update to its Beats wireless earbuds in six years. The new model is rumoured to include heart rate tracking, expanding Apple's health-focused wearable ecosystem beyond the Apple Watch.
While Apple has not confirmed plans for a launch event, Gurman reports the company will likely announce the devices via its website, skipping a formal presentation. The current iPhone SE, priced at $429, was discontinued in the EU last year over its non-compliant Lightning port.
