Importing playlists on Spotify just got easier
Spotify is introducing a new way for listeners to transfer playlists from other music services directly into the app, aiming to make switching platforms less disruptive for users who have built large collections elsewhere.
The update comes through a global rollout of a built-in integration with "TuneMyMusic" on the Spotify mobile app. In a recent blog, the company said the feature will allow people to move their existing playlists into Spotify without losing tracks or recreating collections manually.
Users can access it by navigating to the "Import your music" option within the Library tab and connecting their external accounts through TuneMyMusic. The playlists then appear automatically in Spotify.
Spotify framed the tool as part of a wider effort to give listeners more control over their music libraries. Once playlists are imported, users can customise them with collaborative features, and personalised transitions. In select markets, Smart Filters can also sort music by mood, genre or activity, as per Spotify.
The company added that its recommendation system begins adapting as soon as users start listening to the imported playlists, helping personalised mixes to adjust more quickly.
The platform also highlighted expanded social features for younger listeners, including real-time collaborative playlists, in-app messaging for users aged 16 and above in select countries and shared listening sessions for Premium subscribers.
