Apple upgrades Vision Pro with M5 chip
Apple has introduced an updated version of its Vision Pro headset featuring a new M5 processor. The company states the chip provides improved performance for AI tasks and enhances display rendering compared to the previous model.
The new model includes visionOS 26, which adds features such as spatial widgets and support for additional languages through Apple Intelligence. The headset also features a redesigned Dual Knit Band that Apple says provides improved comfort through its dual-rib structure and adjustable fit dial.
According to Apple, the M5 chip enables faster loading times for applications and supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing for gaming. The company claims the headset can render 10% more pixels than the previous version, resulting in sharper text and visuals. Battery life is stated to reach up to two and a half hours for general use.
The Vision Pro headset includes access to over one million applications through the App Store and supports content from streaming services on screens that can appear up to 100 feet wide. The device is available for pre-order starting at $3,499 with multiple storage options.
