Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman etched his name into the record books by becoming the fastest pacer to claim 400 wickets in T20 cricket during a Bangladesh Premier League match in Sylhet on Friday.

Shakib Al Hasan-featured MI Emirates became the second team to qualify for the playoffs of the ongoing ILT20, beating Gulf Giants by eight wickets with 21 balls to spare in their penultimate league match in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

The presence of three Bangladeshi players in different leagues at the same time hints at a positive shift in this regard -- at least for the bowlers.

Shakib produced an all-round performance to help MI Emirates secure a four-wicket win over Desert Vipers at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. 

The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction will be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi, with the BCCI finalising a list of 350 players -- both domestic and overseas. Seven Bangladeshi players have made the shortlist, with only left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman having prior experience in the tournament. All seven Bangladeshis are bowlers.

"My plan is to go back to Bangladesh, play one full series – ODI, Test and T20I – and retire. That's the plan I have," Shakib said.

It was one of those rare, off-colour days for Bangladesh’s ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the IPL released a long list of 1,355 players on Monday after the registration deadline closed on November 30.

“Congratulations Taijul. I can see you get to 400 Test wicket by the time you finish your career. Good luck,” Shakib wrote in a Facebook post.
