Bangladesh has witnessed a rise in online income tax return submissions, with the number of e-returns increasing by more than 250% in the 2024-25 fiscal year, during the penalty-free period for filing income tax returns.

To ease online tax return submissions, taxpayers will not be required to submit any documents or soft copies when filing an e-return, according to the National Board of Revenue (NBR).

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) will open its online tax return submission portal tomorrow to facilitate digital income tax, wealth statement and other tax submissions by individual taxpayers for fiscal year 2024-25

The tax administrator has seen a 239 per cent or three times year-on-year rise in the number of online tax return submissions in 2022-23.
