BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon

Papon mulling to open BNS partially

Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hassan Papon is mulling to open the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) in Dhaka partially before the expiration of its renovation works project comes to an end in December 2024.

Can Papon walk the talk?

The newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports Nazmul Hassan Papon made many great promises on the first day at his new office yesterday, promises the country's sports fraternity has heard before from his predecessors with very little implementation.

A fixer-upper with no fix in sight

An act of publicly taking the blame and responsibility, an initiation or indication of setting in motion an overhaul, or a statement of how things are to be taken from here on -- none of the aforementioned measures or steps were taken by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) even as over a fortnight passed since Bangladesh closed their disastrous World Cup campaign.

Shakib becomes Test captain, Liton his deputy

Bangladesh star cricketer Shakib Al Hasan is back to being the captain of the Bangladesh Test side while the in-form wicketkeeper-batter Liton Das is set to be the vice-captain, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan made the announcement during a press conference following a board meeting today.

‘Do I now explain to them how to play Tests?’

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan questioned the team’s planning for the one-off Test against Afghanistan which the Tigers were almost certain to lose after losing six wickets for 136 runs on day four in their chase of 398.

Questions for Mashrafe

Upon returning to Dhaka from a two-day International Cricket Council chief executives committee meeting in Kolkata yesterday,

‘With consistency they can serve Bangladesh for a long time’

Bangladesh's ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza suggests that with consistency of form, the cricketers left out of the central contract can make a comeback.

The boys played like heroes, says BCB president

Despite the Tigers’ defeat to India in the final of the Nidahas Trophy tournament, the team managed to put up a brave fight in most of the matches and BCB president Nazmul Hassan says that the players played like heroes.

Mahmudullah deserved better

With the auspicious occasion of Bangladesh's 100th Test match coming up tomorrow, the whole apparatus of Bangladesh cricket seems to have been plunged into gloom in Sri Lanka, and a bit of farce in Bangladesh.
