Liton, Rony give Tigers a commanding start
Thanks to openers Liton Das and Rony Talukdar, Bangladesh got off to a very commanding start in their third T20I against England in Mirpur today.
Bangladesh scored 46 for no loss in the Powerplay.
Bangladesh, however, were lucky as Rehan Ahmed dropped a sitter at short third man to see Rony survive. Rony, who was batting 17, top-edged an Archer delivery in the final over of the powerplay but was lucky to have not paid the price for it.
Playing in his first international series after over eight years, Rony, otherwise, looked confident and played fearlessly. He took on Chris Woakes and played a cross-batted shot for a boundary down the ground.
Liton, who has been going through a lean patch recently, did not look in control of his shots initially. He tried to shuffle across to neutralise the wrong ones from leggie Adil Rashid but was lucky to have not played a faulty shot.
Liton's first boundary was courtesy of an unconvincing scoop off Chris Woakes that had just enough on it to go over the keeper and slip region despite poor timing.
However, Liton made amends with a uppish cut through backward point for a boundary off Jofra Archer before finding his timing against Rashid, sweetly timing a sweep off the leggie for a boundary through backward point.
