Modi likens Asia Cup win to Operation Sindoor

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined millions of cricket fans in the country celebrating India's Asia Cup cricket title triumph with a five-wicket victory over arch rivals Pakistan in the final in Dubai on Sunday night.
As soon as Rinku Singh hit the winning boundary on Sunday night, joyous scenes erupted as people took to the streets in several cities across India, setting off fire crackers, distributing sweets and dancing to the rhythm of drum beats to mark India's record-extending ninth Asia Cup victory.
Modi congratulated the Indian cricketers. Taking to his official X, he wrote: "Operation Sindoor on the games field. Outcome is the same - India wins! Congrats to our cricketers.
"Operation Sindoor" refers to India's military offensive against "terror sites" in Pakistan in May after a terror attack left 26 people dead in the picturesque Himalayan resort of Pahalgam in India's Jammu and Kashmir region on April 22. Ends
