Shamsunnahar Jr, Tohura run riot in Rangers rout
National team's striker duo Shamsunnahar Jr and Tohura Khatun shared eight goals as Farashganj SC blanked Dhaka Rangers Club 10-0 in a Women's Football League encounter at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium on Thursday night.
Star-studded Farashganj SC dominated the day's third match against Rangers under floodlights by taking a comfortable 6-0 lead at halftime with Shamsunnahar completing her hattrick, netting goals in the 6th, 33rd and 37th minute respectively, while Tohura struck twice and Maria Manda scored one goal.
After resumption, Tohura completed her hattrick one minute into the second half and Shamsunnahar struck her fourth goal in the 50th minute.
Monika Chakma also wrote her name in the scoresheet in the 61st minute before Tahura struck in the 88th minute to make it the biggest winning margin in the ongoing league till now. Shamsunnahar and Tahura were jointly adjudged the players of the match.
On the same ground, former national champions Ansar & VDP Football Club were stunned by Suddopuskorini Jubo Sporting Club, who came from behind to win 3-2.
Jannatul Ferdous Jinuk struck a brace (23rd, 48th minute) while Kumari Payel Rani netted one (42 minute) for the winners.
Munmun Akter and Joba Rani scored one goal each for Ansar & VDP.
In the day's second match, Siraj Smrity Sangsad defeated Kacharipara Ekadosh Unnayan Shangstha by 5-1 goals.
