Mohammedan salvage draw, Police snatch narrow win

Mohammedan Sporting Club came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Fortis FC, while Bangladesh Police edged promoted Arambagh KS 1-0 in the Federation Cup Group B matches today.

With two matches played, Mohammedan top the table with four points, and Police sit second with three points.

At the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla, Mohammedan, under pressure following a 2-0 Bangladesh Football League defeat to Fakirerpool Young Men's Club, conceded the first goal in the 28th minute through Fortis' Nigerian Onyckachi Okafor after goalkeeper Shakib Al Hasan failed to hold a header from Gambian Pa Omar Babou.

Mohammedan, however, salvaged a draw with an equaliser in the 86th minute through a close-range drive from Ghanaian forward Samuel Boeteng, set up by a low cross from compatriot Eli Keke Emmanuel off a Muzaffarjon Muzaffaravo corner.

At the Bashundhara Kings Arena, Bangladesh Police recovered from their 3-2 defeat in the opening match against Mohammedan when Brazilian forward Paulo Santos De Azevado struck a brilliant goal inside the box after shrugging off his marker Ariful Islam Shakhawat, maintaining Police's perfect record against Arambagh since 2019.
