Double delight for fab four
Having grabbed gold medals in their first events of Beximco National Shooting Championships, four female shooters – Armin Asha, Turing Dewan, Suraiya Akter and Atkiya Hasan Disha won their second gold medals on the penultimate day at the National Shooting Complex in Gulshan yesterday.
Armin, who had won the 10m air pistol gold on Sunday, grabbed gold in 25m sport pistol scoring 537 points, which was two points more than Synthia Naznin Tumpa's score. Tumpa had also won silver medal in 10m air pistol event.
In junior section of 25m sport pistol, Turing snatched gold putting Marjahan Akter behind by just one point. Turing scored 519 points while Marjahan finished with 518 points.
Having won the 50m rifle three position, veteran Suraiya beat Umme Jakia Sultana by 14 points in the 50m rifle prone event with a score of 583 points.
Atkia won women's junior 50m rifle prone gold despite being tied with Mahfuza Jannat on 561 points. Mahfuza was adjudged to have finished second due to firing less number of perfect 10s than Atkia.
Commonwealth gold medallist Abdullah Hel Baki and SA Games gold medallist Shakil Ahmed will take part in their pet events of 10m air rifle and 50m air pistol today.
