Sylhet to host Bangladesh A’s series against West Indies A
The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium is set to host a series of three four-day matches between Bangladesh A and West Indies A, with the first match scheduled to start on May 16, Cricket West Indies (CWI) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Monday.
The visitors will set foot in the Tiger's den on May 11 and will play all three matches in Sylhet.
The second four-day Test is slated for May 23, and the tour will conclude with the third and final match starting on May 30.
This is a reciprocal tour by the visitors as Bangladesh A toured the West Indies in August of 2022 when they played two four-day Tests and three fifty-over matches at the Daren Sammy Stadium in Saint Lucia.
The four-day Test series was an even draw, and the fifty-over series followed suit, with the final match being abandoned due to rain.
Roland Holder, CWI's Manager of Cricket Operations, reiterated that the series would provide exposure for several players and noted it was a significant part of CWI's commitment to continually develop talent and prepare them for the demands at international cricket.
"We are again pleased to work closely with the BCB as we confirm the match schedule for this upcoming Men's 'A' Team Series. Last summer we had a competitive five-match series with red-ball and white-ball matches in Saint Lucia. This time around our players will get to experience foreign conditions and this is a vital part of their development in the pathway toward full international selection and provides a platform for further exposure and progress following the recent West Indies Championship and new Headley Weekes Tri-Series," he said.
