No late plot twist as Shakib signs for Mohammedan
Shakib Al Hasan signed for the traditional powerhouse Mohammedan Sporting Club to play in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) as the Bangladesh megastar cricketer arrived at the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) office on Saturday morning and completed the formalities.
It was known earlier that Shakib was on the verge of featuring for Mohammedan, courtesy of the information provided by AGM Sabbir, president of the club's cricket committee.
However, there had been rumours from the very beginning that the Bangladesh Test and T20 captain might end up in Abahani colours but Mohammeda secured their man eventually. Moreover, Mahmudullah Riyad, Imrul Kayes, Shubhagata Hom Chowdhury, Soumya Sarkar, and Rony Talukdar were also roped in by the Black and Whites, who have not done justice to their name in the DPL in the last few years.
The upcoming DPL season will commence on March 15 and most of its matches will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur and at the BKSP grounds, with Fatullah Cricket Stadium in Narayanganj kept as an alternative venue.
