NCL T20: Joy, Dipu power Chattogram to dominant win over Dhaka Metro

Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Shahadat Hossain Dipu powered Chattogram Division to a commanding eight-wicket win over Dhaka Metro in their second-round National Cricket League (NCL) T20 fixture at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Chasing 186, Joy struck a blistering 71 off 37 balls, featuring four boundaries and six sixes, while Dipu remained unbeaten on 64 off 36 with two fours and five maximums. Mominul Haque chipped in with 31 off 18 as Chattogram cruised to 186 for two in just 16.5 overs.

Earlier, Dhaka Metro posted 185 for six after opting to bat, thanks to Mohammad Naim's 44, Mahfijul Islam Robin's 41, and Mahmudullah's unbeaten 41 off 22 balls. Off-spinner Nayeem Hasan returned with figures of two for 32.

Meanwhile, Sylhet Division secured their first win in the tournament, edging Barishal Division by two wickets in a last-over thriller at the same venue.

Chasing 142, Sylhet were reeling at 110 for seven before pacer Rejaur Rahman Raja's unbeaten 19 off seven balls guided them home with two balls to spare. Khaled Ahmed (12) and Naim Hossain Sakib (4 not out) added vital runs down the order.

For Barishal, Fazle Mahmud struck 60 and Salman Hossain added 35, but disciplined bowling restricted them to 141 for eight, with Ebadot Hossain claiming three wickets.

Today, Dhaka Metro take on Khulna Division while Dhaka Division face Sylhet Division at the Sylhet Outer Stadium.
