Ireland outplay BCB XI in warm-up match
Ireland ramped up their preparations with a dominating 78-run win over Bangladesh Cricket Board XI in their only warm-up match at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Ireland opener Paul Stirling and middle-order batter Curtis Campher smashed fifties to help their side post 255 for six in 40 overs in a contest that was curtailed by 10 overs due to rain. The DLS method later determined a target of 259 for the BCB XI, who in reply were bundled out for just 181 with 7.5 overs remaining.
Veteran Stirling hit seven fours and three sixes for his 50-ball 54 to kickstart proceedings at the top and a 49-ball 75 featuring seven fours and four sixes saw Campher take charge of late fireworks along with Gareth Delany, who scored a 25-ball 36.
The hosts struggled to keep a lid on run-scoring as pacer Rejaur Rahman Raja and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain gave away 51 and 50 runs respectively to scalp two wickets each.
In reply, BCB XI struggled to build partnerships as Ireland pegged them back taking wickets at regular intervals.
Opener Soumya Sarker top-scored with 46-ball 48 as he hit seven fours and two sixes, and Shamim Hossain managed a 38-ball 35.
Zakir Hasan and Yasir Ali, who were included in the squad to face Ireland, couldn't impress either. Opener Zakir managed 21-ball 18, and skipper Yasir struggled for his nine-ball three.
Andy McBrine scalped three wickets, while Mark Adair picked up two wickets.
Bangladesh will take on Ireland in the first ODI at the same venue on Saturday.
