Hridoy pays tribute to Osman Hadi
Bangladesh batter Tawhid Hridoy paid an emotional tribute to Sharif Osman Hadi following the latter's burial on Saturday, remembering the Inqilab Moncho spokesperson and frontline figure of the July uprising through a heartfelt Facebook post.
Hadi was laid to rest beside national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam near the Dhaka University Central Mosque on Saturday afternoon. He was buried at around 3:48pm following his namaz-e-janaza, with a munajat concluding at 4:03pm.
Reflecting on Hadi's final journey, Hridoy wrote, "The parliament premises that Hadi bhai was fighting to reach -- he has gone there. In the guise of a hero, accompanied by thousands of people, and drenched in the prayers and love of millions," wrote Hridoy on his Facebook post on Saturday.
"Not everyone is blessed with so much love at the time of farewell. Allah had sent him to this world as a fortunate soul. May our Hadi bhai rest in peace in eternal sleep," he added.
An MP aspirant from Dhaka-8, Hadi suffered a critical head injury on December 12 after being shot by assailants in Dhaka's Paltan area.
He initially received treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Evercare Hospital before being airlifted to Singapore on December 15 for advanced medical care.
Hadi passed away at Singapore General Hospital on Thursday night (December 18), and his body was brought back to the country on Friday.
