Mash gives credit to Afghanistan

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza expressed his satisfaction with the way his side played in the third and final match to clinch the series 2-1 but he did not hesitate to say that their opponents played better than them in the first two games. On the other hand, Afghanistan skipper Asghar Stanikzai was happy with his team's performance and branded it a successful tour as they gathered enough experience by playing only their second bilateral series against a Full Member nation after their 3-2 victory over Zimbabwe last October.

"The good thing is that we won the series and that's why it feels good. After the second match there was a bit of pressure, it's nice that we came out of that. The upcoming series [against England] will be more challenging but if we can play confidently we will have a chance. We have a record of playing good cricket at home so that confidence is there," Mashrafe said during the post-match press conference.

"I think the way we played the last match is actually how we wanted to play and at last we managed to do it in the last ODI," he added.

"Bangladesh is a full member and they have lots of experience, so we have played very well and gave them a tough time," Stanikzai said in his reaction.

"Dropping catches are part of the game. I think luck played a part in the match," the Afghanistan skipper added, referring to the catch he dropped off centurion Tamim Iqbal.

The visiting skipper further said: "It's a successful tour for us because we learnt a lot of things from this tour. Bangladesh are not easy opponents, especially on a spinning track. We lost the first though it was our match [to win] and we did come back in the second but we made some mistakes in the last game."
