CWAB stands beside Mushfiq
The Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) lauded the response of the Bangladesh Premier League’s (BPL) governing body in regards to Barisal Bulls co-owner MA Awal Choudhury comments on Mushfiqur’s captaincy.
The association deplored the comments and believe the remarks were ‘unwarranted and disrespectful’.
The CWAB expressed their happiness at the quick response of BPL’s governing council. The cricketers also applauded the quick nature of the response from the governing body regarding disrespectful comments made by Awal Choudhury.
They hoped that fans, cricket lovers and all associated cricketing bodies and individuals would continue treat cricketers and the cricket team respectfully to enrich the status of Bangladesh cricket.
IH Mallick previously assured that they would take disciplinary action because the comments Awal had made were not appropriate.
"The BPL council has a code of conduct and whoever the owner is has to maintain that. I have already spoken to the franchisee owner and we have called him. We will serve him a show-cause and if we don't get a proper response then we will take action against the franchisee. It can be financial penalty or something else.
"We have punished four franchises before for this sort of thing, so it's nothing new. I can't even assure you that it won't happen again. The issue is whether we are dealing with the issues properly or not."
Mushfiqur scored 341 runs in 12 matches for Barisal Bulls last season, but despite his performance with the bat his team failed to cross the first round barrier.
