Gulistan blast: Another dies in burn institute, death toll now 22
Another victim of the Siddikbazar tragedy succumbed to his injuries today at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Yasin Arafat, who was on life support with 55 percent burns died around 8:00pm, Samanta Lal Sen, chief coordinator of the hospital, told The Daily Star.
Arafat, 26, of Noakhali's Begumganj, used to live with his uncle in Moghbazar. He worked at a shop named Bangladesh Sanitary located in the basement of the building, damaged by the explosion.
The remaining eight injured undergoing treatment at the burn institute are in critical condition.
With the latest death, 22 people were killed and more than 100 injured in the blast in the capital's Gulistan on Tuesday.
Fire officials said the explosion took place around 4:45pm.
The cause behind the huge blast is still not known, but officials suspect that accumulated gas might be a likely cause.
