Gonoforum President Dr Kamal Hossain today said a movement will be waged to establish the rights of the people.

“Even after 49 years of independence, democracy is lacking in Bangladesh,” he told reporters at Savar this morning.

“We must ensure a free and fair election… a parliament with true public representatives who will fulfil the aspiration of the people,” he said.

“This is our challenge. We must ensure this,” Dr Kamal said after placing his wreath at the National Mausoleum on Independence Day.

Dr Kamal is also the convener of JatiyaOikyafront, the major opposition alliance including of BNP that took part in the general election.
