The apex court today stayed a High Court durective that halted the government’s suspension order of Rajshahi city Mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul.

Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foez Siddique passed the order moved by a government appeal seeking stay of the HC order.

The appeal has also been forwarded to the full bench of the Supreme Court for hearing on June 14.

Earlier on May 28, the High Court had stayed a government order of suspension for Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul after police had charged him in four criminal cases of violence.

Local Government Division, LGRD, suspended him on May 7 following the indictment.

Deputy Attorney General Khandokar Diliruzzaman told The Daily Star that Mossadeq Hossain Bulbul cannot function as Rajshahi city mayor following the SC order.
