Khaleda's release a must for inclusive JS polls: BNP
BNP today called upon the government to pave the path of holding the next general election in a free, fair and inclusive manner after releasing its Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail unconditionally.
“We want the next general election to be held in an inclusive manner under a neutral government and thus, we are demanding Khaleda Zia's release," said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He was talking to the reporters after placing wreaths at the grave of the party founder Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area of Dhaka marking the Independence Day.
"We took an oath to continue our peaceful movement until release of Khaleda Zia and other party men from jail," he added.
The BNP leader also demanded release of his party leaders and activists now in jail in connection with “false and politically motivated” cases for the sake of holding an inclusive JS polls.
Khaleda landed in prison on February 8 after she was sentenced five years imprisonment by a Dhaka court for misappropriating a donation fund of the Zia Orphanage Trust.
