'Fictitious' Cases: BNP submits another list to the PMO
The BNP yesterday submitted another list, this time of 1,002 “fictitious” cases filed against its leaders and activists, to the Prime Minister's Office.
The party also sent a letter signed by its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urging the government to stop such harassment and withdraw all the cases ahead of the upcoming general election.
“It is a partial list like the previous one and more lists of such cases will be sent to the PMO later,” reads the letter.
Earlier on November 6, the BNP had submitted to the PMO a list of 1,046 “fictitious cases” filed against its leaders and activists. It did so after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina assured it of taking steps to stop such harassment.
The assurance came after a dialogue with Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikyafront on November 1, where the PM had asked the BNP leaders to submit the list of its arrested leaders and activists to her.
The BNP, in yesterday's letter, said there had not yet been any progress regarding the list submitted to the PMO on November 6.
