HC extends Khaleda's bail
The High Court yesterday extended till October 11 its earlier order that granted bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order following a prayer moved by Khaleda's lawyer Advocate Abdur Rezak Khan, seeking extension of her bail.
Yesterday, the bench also continued hearing on Khaleda's appeal for the 20th day, challenging the trial court verdict that sentenced her to five years' imprisonment in the same graft case.
The court fixed 10:30am today for resuming the hearing, said Anti-Corruption Commission's lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan.
On March 12, the HC granted four months' bail to Khaleda in the case filed by ACC.
The order expired on July 12. Since then, the HC bench extended the bail order seven times.
