‘Kuchh to mila', Hasina says on Mamata
“Didi pani nehi diya, lekin bijli to diya…Kuchh to mila.”
That was the note of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Mamata Banerjee at the end of her four-day visit to India, which failed to resolve the issue of sharing Teesta waters, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
The sentence that PM Hasina conveyed in local Hindi meant: Didi (Mamata Banerjee) did not give water, but gave us electricity. So we got something from her.
Speaking at a reception of India Foundation this morning ahead of her return to Dhaka after a four-day visit there, the premier also reminded Delhi of assurances on Teesta.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata has practically not budged from her previous stance on Teesta and offered Bangladesh electricity and water on other rivers instead.
