Fakhrul gets bail in 3 cases
The High Court today granted bail to detained BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in three separate vandalism and arson cases.
However, Fakhrul, who is now undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, cannot get released from the custody as he has been shown arrested in three other criminal cases, his lawyer AKM Ehsanur Rahman told The Daily Star.
The BNP leader got bail in the cases – two filed with Paltan Police Station on December 28, 2014 and January 4 this year while another with Motijheel Police Station on January 6 under explosive substances act.
Following three separate bail petitions filed by Fakhrul, the HC bench of Justice Md Nuruzzaman and Justice Abdur Rob granted him bail until police submit the charge sheets before the lower court in the cases.
Fakhrul was detained from the Press Club on January 5 and he was shown arrested in seven vandalism and arson cases.
With this, Fakhrul has secured bail in four cases.
