DNCC by-polls schedule to be announced tomorrow

The Election Commission will announce the by-polls schedule for the mayoral post of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) tomorrow.

The schedule will be announced at 12 noon at the media center of Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka, said Director (PR) at the EC Secretariat SM Asaduzzaman today.

The Commission on January 4 decided to hold by-polls to the DNCC mayoral post on February 26.

Besides, the election schedule will be declared to arrange polls to the 36 councilor posts and 12 reserved seats in the 36 new wards -- 18 of the DNCC and 18 of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) -- on the same day.

The DNCC mayoral post fell vacant with the death of Annisul Huq on November 30 last year.
