Govt unstable, may soon announce polls: Moudud
Claiming that the government is in an unstable situation, senior BNP leader Moudud Ahmed today said it might soon announce the general election.
“The government is now in an unstable situation. It seems from the government’s activities that it would announce the general elections,” said Moudud, a member of the party’s standing committee.
He expressed hope that his party BNP, under the leadership of Khaleda Zia, “would restore democracy in the country”.
He was talking to reporters after paying tributes to party founder and former president Ziaur Rahman, marking the 37th founding anniversary of BNP.
Earlier around 11:10am, BNP chief Khaleda, who is also the widow of the party founder, placed wreaths at his grave at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka.
A special prayer was offered there on this occasion.
A large number of BNP leaders and activists joined Khaleda to pay their homage to the BNP founder.
