'BNP to accept people’s verdict'

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said his party will accept the people’s verdict if the next general election is held under a nonpartisan government.

“We will accept the people’s verdict if the election is held under a nonpartisan government,” Fakhrul said responding to Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader’s comments that the BNP will be rejected by the people in the next general election.

Fakhrul was talking to reporters after placing wreaths at the grave of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman in Dhaka this noon marking the 47th Victory Day.

He also alleged that the government has started “drawing a design to materialise one-party rule” in the country after taking charge in 2008. “Now they (Awami League) have materialised the plan.”

“We have taken an oath under the leadership of our party’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia that our movement would continue until the desired goal is achieved,” he said.
