Khaleda denied bail in Comilla arson case
A Comilla court today rejected BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s bail petition in an arson attack case filed during the anti-government movement by BNP-led 20-party alliance in 2015.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Mustain Billah passed the order after former prime minister Khaleda filed the petition this afternoon, our local correspondent reports quoting Court Inspector Subrata Banerjee.
Khaleda was shown arrested in the case yesterday for instigating the arson attack on a bus on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Comilla's Chauddagram that left seven passengers dead and 25 to 30 others injured on February 3, 2015.
The court also asked the jail authority to produce the BNP chief before it on March 28.
The law enforcers submitted the charge sheet of the case to a Comilla court accusing Khaleda and the others on March 2 last year.
