20 rescued while being trafficked to Malaysia
Bangladesh Coast Guard rescued 20 Bangladeshi fortune seekers from Kutubdia upazila of Cox's Bazar when they were being trafficked to Malaysia early today.
A team of coast guard rescued them when they were going to Malaysia with a mechanised boat through Kutubdia channel in the Bay around 4:00am, our Cox's Bazar correspondent reports quoting an official of the maritime border patrol agency.
The names of the rescued Bangladeshis could not be known immediately.
Md Mokter Hossain, petty officer of the Coast Guard Kutubdia contingent, said the rescued persons, hailed from different districts and will be handed over to Pekua Police Station.
A case will be filed in this connection, the official said.
