Delhi has no immediate response to Dhaka's note verbale
The Indian External Affairs Ministry today said it did not have any immediate response about Bangladesh issuing a note verbale to the neighbouring country seeking information over media reports on West Bengal digging two more canals to divert Teesta water.
To a question asked by an Indian journalist at his weekly media briefing in New Delhi, Indian MEA spokesman Arindam Bagchi said, "We do not have any immediate response to it. I am not aware of whether we have responded to it," reports our New Delhi correspondent.
"I have seen the [Bangladesh] Foreign Secretary's comments. This is something we have not made any statement on yet," he added.
The Telegraph newspaper of Kolkata recently reported that the West Bengal government has decided to dig two canals to divert the water of Teesta river for irrigation in northern part of the state.
