Cyclone Sitrang to cross Barishal, Ctg by tomorrow
Cyclone Sitrang, currently located around 495 kilometre South-Southwest of Payra port and advancing towards the coast at a speed of 15 km, will cross between Barishal and Chattogram near Khepupara by tomorrow (October 25, 2022) morning, the met office said.
Bangladesh met office warned that the cyclonic storm may intensify further and turn into a severe cyclone.
Maritime ports -- Mongla and Payra -- have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number seven. The cautionary signal seven means – the port is going to be hit by a medium to the severe storm. The wind speed could be 62 km per hour to 88 kmph.
Coastal districts -- Satkhira, Khulna Bagerhat, Jhalakathi, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barishal, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, and Feni have come under danger-level seven.
Low-lying areas of all these districts will experience very heavy rainfall and five to eight feet high wind-driven storm surges above normal astronomical tide.
Maritime ports Chattogram and Cox's Bazar have advised to hoist cautionary signal number six, which means the cyclone will cross through the right side of the port with a speed 62 to 88 kmph.
