Siam Ahmed starrer ‘Rakkhosh’ starts overseas filming in Sri Lanka

Actor Siam Ahmed is gearing up for another Eid release, following last year's "Jongli", with his upcoming film "Rakkhosh", directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy, best known for "Borbaad".

After completing the Bangladesh schedule last month, the Rakkhosh team has now travelled to Sri Lanka in search of new locations. According to the director, the unit left for Sri Lanka on the night of January 4, where filming of several key sequences will continue for nearly two weeks. Following the overseas shoot, the team will return to Dhaka to complete the remaining portions before moving into post-production, aiming for an Eid-ul-Fitr release.

The film stars Indian actress Sushmita Chatterjee opposite Siam Ahmed. Currently in India, Sushmita is expected to join the unit in Sri Lanka within the next few days. She made her Tollywood debut in 2021 with "Prem Tame" and later appeared in films such as "Chengiz" and "Manush". "Rakkhosh" marks her debut in Bangladeshi cinema.

Speaking at a press conference in Dhaka last month, Sushmita said the story of Rakkhosh was the main reason she agreed to the project. "I was completely drawn in after hearing the story from the director," she said. "The character has a lot to offer, and I want to give my best to bring it to life. Working with such a strong team for my first Bangladeshi film is a big opportunity for me."

Director Mehedi Hasan Hridoy has said that, like "Borbaad", Rakkhosh will feature intense action and violence. However, he added that the film also centres on a love story that ultimately turns Siam's character into a 'rakshosh' (monster).

The film also stars Bapparaj and Aliraj, among others, and is being produced under the banner of Real Energy Production.

With its Sri Lanka schedule underway, "Rakkhosh" is moving ahead at full pace as one of the major Bangladeshi releases lined up for Eid.
