Rami Malek to star in thriller 'Amateur'
Oscar winner Rami Malek has been cast in Black Mirror director James Hawes' upcoming thriller "Amateur". The project is being produced by 20th Century Studios.
According to the entertainment website Deadline, the latest draft of the script was written by Gary Spinelli.
The plot revolves around a CIA cryptographer who, after his wife is tragically killed in a terrorist attack in London, demands that his superiors go after them. When it becomes clear that they will not act because of competing internal priorities, he blackmails the agency into training him and allowing him to go after them on his own.
Rami Malek recently completed production on Christopher Nolan's thriller "Oppenheimer", which will be released in July. He was also set to produce and appear in Warner Bros TV's Buster Keaton limited series.
Hawes, one of only a few directors to have directed numerous episodes of "Black Mirror", has recently become a sought-after director following the critical success of the Apple TV+ series "Slow Horses".
