Nurul Alam Atique's film "Peyarar Subash" has won the prestigious Hiralal Sen Award 1431 from Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS). With this award, the curtain has officially fallen on the largest Bangla-language film festival of the year.

Shamol Shishir accepted the Hiralal Sen Award 1431 on behalf of director Nurul Alam Atique. The award was handed over by Habiba Rahman, assistant professor of the Film Department at Dhaka University.

According to the organisers, "The Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS) awards the Hiralal Sen Award every year during the Amar Bhashar Chalachitra Utsab, paying tribute to the legendary Hiralal Sen, one of the pioneers of Bangla cinema. The best Bangladeshi film released in the past year is chosen for this honour."

This year, four films were nominated for the Hiralal Sen Award at the prestigious festival. Besides "Peyarar Subash", the nomination list included "Kajol Rekha", "Nakshi Kanthar Jamin", and "Priyo Maloti".

"Peyarar Subash" not only won Best Picture but also bagged the award for Best Editing. The Best Screenplay award went to "Kajol Rekha", Best Sound Design to "Priyo Maloti", and Best Cinematography to "Nakshi Kanthar Jamin".

The five-day Amar Bhashar Chalachitra Utsab 1431 film festival began on February 15, showcasing 19 feature films and three short films, a mix of both new and classic Bangla films.

On the final day of the festival, four films were screened, including "Priyo Maloti", alongside Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury's "Boli", Kazi Hayat's iconic "Ammajan", and Dewan Nazrul's "Dost Dushman".

The award-winning film "Peyarar Subash" boasts a stellar cast, featuring Jaya Ahsan, Ahmed Rubel, Sushama Sarkar, Dihan, and Nur Imran Mithu, among others. The film was also an official selection at the 45th Moscow International Film Festival, where it competed in the main competition category.

Last year, the Hiralal Sen Award for Best Film was given to Yuvraj Shamim's "Adim", which also made waves at the Moscow Film Festival.
