New Bangladeshi OTT releases lined up for the year ahead
Bangladeshi OTT platforms are gearing up to offer a wide range of new content in the coming year, with web series, feature films and game shows planned across Chorki, Hoichoi, iScreen and BongoBD.
Chorki's chief executive officer Redwan Rony said the platform is planning large-scale productions involving some of the country's leading artistes and filmmakers. He noted that Chorki aims to continue offering fresh viewing experiences, with a major new series directed by Shihab Shaheen currently in the works.
A new project based on a story by Shankha Dasgupta will explore themes of human dreams and emotional depth, while filmmaker Arafat Mohsin Nidhi is set to make his series-directing debut with a family-centred, emotional narrative. Chorki is also introducing animal-focused storytelling to address a noticeable gap in local OTT content. In addition, several new story concepts involving popular actors and directors are currently at the planning stage.
Rony also said Chorki is expanding its focus on theatrical releases. The film "Domm", starring Afran Nisho, Chanchal Chowdhury and Puja Cherry, is expected to be released in cinemas this year, followed by its availability on the OTT platform.
Meanwhile, Hoichoi has announced a slate featuring works by several new directors, alongside fresh projects from filmmakers who have previously collaborated with the platform. One of Hoichoi's most notable ventures this year is "Bonolota Express", the platform's first theatrical film produced under Hoichoi Studios. The platform also indicated that a sequel to the popular series "Golam Mamun" may be released within the year.
Although iScreen has not disclosed details about its upcoming series, the platform has confirmed the release of a feature film directed by Raihan Rafi. Tentatively titled "Pressure Cooker", the film may star Shabnam Bubly and Nazifa Tushi. In addition, new series and web films by emerging directors are also expected.
With a mix of established names and new voices, the upcoming year is shaping up to be a busy one for Bangladesh's OTT landscape.
